Use a Cortland Fly Fishing Pocket Thermometer to check water temperature. Trout need water temperature of the proper range. Most trout prefer a temperature range of 35 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. The best range for feeding is from 50 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Brook Trout and Cutthroat prefer a slightly colder water temperature. Water that reaches a temperature of 68 degrees or higher, may not contain the proper oxygen level.
Very handy tool to gauge water temperature. Rugged and reliable, the protective case clips securely to your vest or shirt pocket.
Can also be put on a retrieve-it.
